Record-Breaking A Level Results

The release of A Level results by the various examining boards at the end of August brought news of further record-breaking success to St Patrick’s Grammar School, Armagh with 2 students in the school, Christopher Staines and Cormac O’Neill achieving an amazing 5 A*/A grades in their A Level exams.

Speaking after the publication of A Level results last week, Fr Kevin Donaghy, Headmaster of St Patrick’s Grammar School, congratulated the boys, their parents and the staff of the school in the role they all played in the exceptional performance of this year’s cohort of A level students. Excellent GCSE Results at St Patrick’s Grammar School

The Principal, pupils, parents and staff of St Patrick’s Grammar School had further reason to celebrate at the end of August with the publication of more excellent GCSE results for the Armagh school.

Among the top achievers in St Patrick’s were Niall McCoy, Drumcairn Road, Armagh, Thomas Lee, Ratarnat Road, Collone, Aaron Trainor, Ashgrove Manor, Portadown and James Holloway, Rowans Park, Caigavon, who each recorded an impressive tally of 10 or more A*/A grades in their GCSE subjects. Readthon – Read –A –Tonne!!

Our annual year 9 ‘Readathon’ will begin on Monday 21st February and once again we hope to get all our year 9’s into a reading frenzy as they set personal reading targets for themselves for the week.
This is an excellent literacy initiative as it gives the pupils a chance – during their English classes – to relax and simply enjoy reading whatever they want!! In previous years the pupils have far exceeded the own personal reading aims, with achievements as varied as reading all of ‘Harry Potter – The Deathly Hallows’ in one week to one parent actually sending in a photograph of his son reading – something he had never seen before!!! Junior Prizegiving

Year 8 Class Award Winners at Junior Prizegiving in St Patrick’s Grammar Armagh with Fr Donaghy (Headmaster), and Mrs A Quinn (Year Head)

Over 300 parents and students at St Patrick’s Grammar School gave a warm reception to the Guest Speaker at Junior Prizegiving, Mr Kevin Beagan, eminent past pupil of St Patrick’s Grammar School and Captain of the school’s 2000 team that won the MacRory Cup.

After the opening prayer Fr Kevin Donaghy, Headmaster at St Patrick’s, began Junior Prizegiving in the school Assembly Hall by welcoming the special Guests, staff members,parents and students from Years 9, 10 and 11 who were present.
